we have been searching for an elusive dinner roll recipe my mother-in-law
used to bake that we affectionately call, "Grandma's
Rolls". As the rolls are a bit on the sweet
side and rather rich, I was looking for a recipe with more than just
the usual 1 tablespoon of white sugar.
|
|
through my old Betty Crocker cookbook circa 1975, a
newer Joy of Cooking, and the gigantic, nile-green
Martha Stewart cookbook, I chanced upon this little
booklet hiding in the pantry entitled, How to
get the most out of your Sunbeam MIXMASTER . The
thing only has about 20 pages devoted to basic recipes
with the rest displaying all the other marvels
manufactured in the 1930's by the Sunbeam
Corporation.

|
the booklet contains a well-worn page with a
recipe simply called "Delicious Sunbeam
rolls". It lists an amount of sugar probably
in line with what I think the recipe would call
for and also requires 3 eggs. This obviously is a
rather substantial bread that cries out for real
butter slathered on top. (Make note here to up the
cross-trainer time on Friday).

We will soon find out as I will bake these up as soon
as I get this web page up for you all to try too.
