with an university education

review of and participation in

here is my
contribution
A fine
time was had by all at the BorderSenses
poetry reading event held last
night at the Bridge Center.
Readings in general
ran the gamut from sublime
elegies to sweet musings about
a garden to venom, applied
vigorously.
Venom,
vigorously spat,
signified the deaths of
several relationships as were
a few sexy sirens' songs and a
couple of boy-angst verses
about love thrown in for good
measure.
Other topics
included the evils of war, the
bravery of the young going off
to fight battles, and a few
history lessons set to blank
verse that verged on
performance art.
It all ended with a
rousing condemnation about the
border metroplex lambasting,
with:
the
universidad and politicos,
the posers, the movers,
the shakers, the quakers,
the bakers, the candlestick
makers. the putas, the vatos,
the abuelos and mandos.
(with
apologies to m. izzard here,
and here,
and of course, here.)
The
poet finished with a rousing
rant, suffering the reader
himself, with flagellation by
words and especially the all
important F*#%.
All in
all, quite an amazing group of
people assembled.
so get this people,
poetry is alive here, people
and don't you forget it, ese. |
