01.27.02 ::
this is a web log or blog. blogs
are part favorite links page, part journal. now, this is not to
be confused with an online diary. online diaries a re just that,
blogs are different in that they comment about ideas and link to
other websites that they like and admire.
i am trying to concentrate (relative term
here) on things i like. also i will add things and ideas that
are of interest to people in el paso, or just to let others from
anywhere else know what goes on here. i hope to be putting more
photographs and drawings up soon.
others who maintain a blog usually date their
entries and comment every day, or every so often. they usually
enter their thoughts and links in one long column.
for now, this blog's main page has several
threads (subjects) running down with some navigation at the top.
those who know me best, can see that this is exactly the way my
brain works—but usually in many different directions all at
once.
at some point, i am going to have to make a
separate page listing all the el paso / southwest links i have
found.
a lot of people use an automatic journaling
helper like blogger.com.
but, i am still at the stage where i do most
of mine by hand. meaning, i open up the website in frontpage
2000 and type away.
other good examples can be seen at:
www.whump.com
www.kottke.org
little
green footballs
but, to get a feeling for how popular this
type of website is, see this link and look at the alphabetical /
subject lists on this site:
eatonweb.com
i find that absolutely amazing.
